4 cups self-raising flour

1 cup milk

1 cup cream

125g butter (melted)

pinch salt

Combine all ingredients in a large bowl until it has formed dough. Turn the dough out onto a floured kitchen counter and knead it together lightly. Don’t over knead, 30 seconds to a minute is more than enough.

Press dough out until it is 2 1/2 centimetres thick, using your hands. Use a small glass to cut it into circles. Place them close together on a greased baking tray, brush them lightly with some additional melted butter. Cook in a preheated 200C degree oven for 20-25 minutes or until they are golden brown.

Top with jam and whipped cream. Serve warm.
